Lake Pleasant is currently at 66 percent full. Striped bass is hitting really good right now especially at night. The go to bait for this is still frozen anchovies. The best place to find striped bass this time of year is in the mail lake area.
Fishing at Lake Pleasant is pretty good around sunrise but the bite quickly fades as the sun comes up. There have been some nice bass caught in the first half mile of the Aqua Fria river. The best baits right now are white and 0-10ft of water.
White Rapalas seem to be doing well, also small soft swim baits in bright or natural colors. I alway have better luck the faster I retrieve them. Also, use light colored poppers like Ricos or Bug Eyes.
The northern coves are producing some nice bass right now in the early morning on topwater baits and shallow cranks. Lake Pleasant is my least favorite place to fish but it is close to where I live.

One of my alltime favorite places to fish is the Gila River. During the summer months I fish somewhere on the Gila River about 3 times a week. There are many ponds and stretches of the Gila River that are excellent for fishing.
There are about 6 different spots I usually fish along the Gila River between PIR raceway and 5 miles west of I-85. I have a small boat that put on top of my 4×4 and head out in the desert to one of the many Gila River fishing spots. The Gila river is loaded with differnt specis of fish from Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Talapia, Catfish, Bluegill, and Carp.
Got to the Gila river this morning around 5am. My brother and I launched our little 11 foot Coleman boat. I was throwing a black Spro popper frog and a green Ribbit swimmig frog. I got a couple hits but no takers. My brother was throwing a spinner bait and a Rapala popper and no action at all. Finally I switched to my bread and butter, the senko.
For the Gila river I use several different colors. Green pumpkin, black/blue, baby bass, or red shad. I threw a red shad wacky style around 6am and in 5 minutes caught my first fish. We fished from 530am to 930am today. I caught 6 lm bass on red shad senkos, 2 lm bass on green pumpkin senkos, and snagged a 9lb carp. Largest bass today only went 3.5 lbs. First time in a while I have not landed a 4 plus pound bass at the Gila River.
My brother landed 3 lm bass on a flat rap from Rapala and one Channel Catfish. All were about 2 pounds. Even though the fishing was slow today we had a great time fishng the Gila River.

Fish Arizona has everything you need to fish right here in the great state of Arizona. I have fished and collect data from the last 10 years. New to fishing in Arizona, you have come to the right place.
When my brother moved here to Arizona 2 years ago I got him hooked on bass fishing. I was currently was not working so I had plenty of time for fishing in Arizona. So we started our quest. We took a map of Arizona and started our fishing adventure in this great fishing state. For 10 months we hiked every trail, drove to every remote body of water, and fished every major lake at least twice.
We fished from shore, we fished from the crawdad, and we fished from my Skeeter bass boat. We recorded temps, locations, fish size, times, water color, ect.
I have started this website to help you get started fishing right here in Arizona. What to buy and where to buy it from. I will give fishing reports from all my fishing spots. I will include the weather report and advice on catching fish. Fish Arizona will continue to update everyday with new tips, tricks, techniques, and reports about fishing in Arizona.
What do I need? Fishing in arizona is a little bit differet. It is not like most of the country. Here we do alot of jigging and dropshoting in the winter time. And our favorite is topwater. Got to get that frog rod out and hook that monster bass.
